Certification Description
 

At Birthing Well Complete Doula Training we believe that doulas can support clients well with a variety of tools and views in their doula skills belt. We help you explore your own views and understand the uniqueness of each client you will serve. This coursework contains education in labor support and assessment skills, childbirth education, and other skills needed to do the hands-on work of a doula. It also includes units on communication, ethical responsibilities, professionalism, and advocacy skills that will help you navigate the birth world as a valued professional doula in the birth world.

Prerequisites

None. College-level reading skills needed. If other accommodations need to be made, we can provide flexibility. Please contact us.

Course Materials

You will be given a manual during the in person class. Specific assignments required for your training will be taken from the following books. You will choose 3 postpartum books to read from the list below. You will need to purchase/borrow/check out from the library these books separately, as they are not included in the cost of registration.

Course Format

Once registered and logged into class, you will be granted access to your coursework online. The content is taught in written form and video format. You can complete the work at your own pace and schedule.

Assessment

Once you have completed each video section, you will have quiz within the module. Passing the quiz with 80% is required to progress.

To finish certification requires:

  • completion of all the 8 video courses

  • supporting 2 birth and postpartum clients

  • reading 3 books and submitting summaries

  • creating a list of 45 resources you will use to help your clients

  • 2 article summaries from Evidencebasedbirth.com

  • CPR trained certificate

  • attending 2 local mom groups

Certificate Renewal

We require that you renew your certificate every 3 years. This helps keep you up to date with your doula skills. To renew your certificate you will pay a $70 fee and submit evidence of 10 hours of continuing education credits (CEU).
