Why Home Birth:  A few reasons to birth at home

Home offers women a feeling of security and comfort.  Feeling secure and comfortable is vital for the birth process to function normally.

Women have the freedom to be themselves during labor and birth.  They move around freely, give birth in whatever position they feel  is most comfortable, and are as vocal and spontaneous as they wish.

Hospitals have routine procedures that couples seeking a natural home birth want to avoid.  They desire their birth to be intervention free and drug free.  They want to participate fully, and do not want labor and birth to be taken over by "managers".  Interventions are used only in specific situations as the need presents.

Women desire to have a personal one-on-one relationship with their birth attendant.  One based on mutual respect and equality.

When women give birth at home they are in familiar surroundings.  Home is a place that they created; a relaxed, peaceful environment for labor and birth where family and loved ones are welcome.
